Guayaquil – Ecuador. AQUAEXPO 2025, the meeting point for global aquaculture, is expected to have a significant economic impact on Guayaquil by boosting employment and business tourism. According to estimates by the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), organizer of the event, the fair will generate more than 6,000 temporary jobs in technical, logistical, and service areas, driving the growth of sectors such as construction, design, printing, transportation, and local gastronomy.
From October 20 to 23, the Guayaquil Convention Center will host the 2025 edition, which expects to bring together 40,000 visitors and delegations from more than 30 countries, consolidating its position as one of the most important technical and commercial events in global aquaculture. This flow will generate an estimated USD 2 million in tourism, benefiting the city’s hotels, restaurants, and services.
For four days, experts, companies, and industry leaders will meet to learn about the sector’s advances and trends. The AQUAEXPO International 2025 Trade Fair will occupy 8,000 m² distributed over two floors of the exhibition center, with the participation of more than 200 companies presenting the latest technological innovations and services for aquaculture.
Gabriela Nivelo, director of AQUAEXPO, highlighted that the fair “not only allows companies to showcase their products and services, but also to establish strategic alliances, commercial connections, and technical collaborations. Visitors can interact directly with innovations and learn about global trends that are transforming the shrimp industry”.
The International Technical Congress will feature more than 60 national and international speakers, who will address topics such as efficient production, shrimp health and nutrition, water and soil quality, sustainability, and digital innovation.
Yahira Piedrahita, executive director of the CNA, noted that «AQUAEXPO 2025 addresses the challenges and trends in the shrimp sector through 10 sessions in two simultaneous rooms, focusing on health, nutrition, technologies, and markets. Priority is given to strategies for health, genetic improvement, nutritional optimization, water and soil management, energy efficiency, and technological innovation, with the aim of promoting sustainable and competitive aquaculture».
In addition, for the second consecutive year, Race to the Top will be held as a space for dialogue on sustainability that brings together representatives from the private sector and international organizations.
Pamela Nath, director of the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP), said that “Race to the Top was created to elevate the conversation about sustainability within the shrimp industry in Ecuador and connect technical vision with strategic leadership. Today, it is the forum where leaders from the aquaculture sector and other industries come together to gain new perspectives, share lessons learned, and project the future of sustainability as a true competitive advantage”.
With an estimated attendance of more than 10,000 visitors per day, AQUAEXPO International 2025 reaffirms its leadership as the most relevant technical-commercial event in Ecuadorian aquaculture and one of the most influential in the world.
This year, the fair incorporates two innovations that will transform the visitor experience. The first is a closed-circuit news channel called AQUANEWS, that will broadcast the highlights of the event in real time (event news, social media posts, business agenda, updates, and advertising for participating brands), with more than 40,000 impressions per publication distributed across screens, digital newsletters, WhatsApp lists, and the official AQUAEXPO website.
The second is AQUAEXPERIENCE, an interactive space in the outdoor area designed to connect, relax, and enjoy the event. Visitors will use a guidebook through the stands, and they will be able to exchange drinks and gifts, turning their visit to the fair into a dynamic, entertaining, and participative experience.
The opening ceremony will take place on Monday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the Guayaquil Convention Center, with the presence of national authorities, representatives of the productive sector, and international delegations.
